Questions
About the planning check
Where does the planning information come from?
Conservation areas, Article 4 directions, listed buildings, World Heritage Sites, National Landscapes, National Parks, flood zones and tree preservation areas come from planning.data.gov.uk, the government's open planning data. The rules are the national permitted development limits (the General Permitted Development Order 2015).
Is the answer guaranteed?
No. It's guidance, not a decision. Councils publish their data at different times, and some special cases aren't covered. For a legal answer, apply to the council for a Lawful Development Certificate.
Why can't it check conservation areas in Skipton?
Craven (now North Yorkshire Council) hasn't published its conservation areas to the national planning data yet. For Skipton addresses the check tells you this and asks you to look at the council's own map.
Do you keep my location?
No. The spot you tap is sent to the government planning data service to look it up, and nothing is stored. It's only passed on if you then ask for a quote, so the firm knows where the job is.
